RMI Ports Authority Full-Scale Emergency Drill

The Republic of the Marshall Islands Ports Authority (RMI Ports Authority) successfully conducted a Full-Scale Emergency Exercise based on a simulated aircraft crash landing on water in Majuro Lagoon.

The exercise simulated Pacific Airlines Flight PA01, a Boeing 737 carrying 50 people onboard, experiencing an in-flight emergency involving engine fires and loss of control before making an emergency landing in the lagoon near Enemanit.

The drill tested the response, communication, coordination, and readiness of the RMI Ports Authority, airport first responders, and mutual-aid partners. Overall, everyone performed well and demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, and commitment throughout the exercise.

The exercise also provided an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and strengthen emergency response procedures for future incidents. Overall, the drill was a successful and valuable training exercise that helped improve preparedness, coordination, and response capabilities.
