The Sea Port Division

The RMIPA Sea Port Division is mandated to ensure the safety and security of all activities taking place at the docks. This includes supervising and monitoring the loading and offloading of vessels, coordinating port operations, and maintaining order within the port premises. The division is responsible for issuing permits and clearances to ensure that all vessels meet the required standards before docking, in full compliance with the laws and maritime regulations of the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

As one of the frontline agencies, the Sea Port Division plays a critical role in enforcing safety protocols, operational guidelines, and regulatory requirements. They work closely with shipping agents, vessel operators, customs officials, and other relevant authorities to maintain smooth and efficient port operations. Their commitment to safety, compliance, and service excellence helps protect port users, safeguard cargo, and support the economic activities that depend on reliable maritime transportation.

The Pilot Boats are among the most important assets of the department. They play a vital role in guiding vessels safely to the docks and assisting them when entering the lagoon waters of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. These boats ensure that ships navigate safely through designated channels, avoiding shallow areas and other potential hazards.

In particular, the Pilot Boats are essential for vessels entering the Majuro Lagoon, where safe navigation requires local knowledge and professional guidance. By providing escort and pilotage services, the department helps maintain maritime safety, protect the marine environment, and ensure efficient port operations.
